What can we learn from their stories? 80s films loved the climax of an impassioned speech (insert slow hand clap). We’re also a generation who loved to read. What’s more Gen X than a book club that takes a stand?

A Gen X Movie Review: Do the films of our youth stand the test of time? We do a deep dive into the folds of our memories and excavate cultural artifacts of our youth to revisit today. How did the film impact us then?  How did we see the characters then versus now? What role did it play in forming our perceptions of the world?  And who are we now in relation to these artifacts today?

Gen X is starting to turn 50. We’ve never shied away from discussing the meaning of life. In fact, that was what we craved in our teens. Some sense of meaning and worth in our safe, suburban spaces. Amy turned to the paranormal and New Age sections of the bookstore. Mike found solace in atheism and materialism.

Now we are faced with our own mortality. Amy, a believer, sees death as a doorway. Mike, an atheist, thinks it’s a wall. Join us as we explore various spiritual and paranormal topics as we bring our opposing perspectives to the table.

A place to vent for Gen Xers. We’re definitely aging differently than our parents and grandparents.  We shed many of their social formalities and judgements. But we are aging nonetheless. And in this changing world, we need a place to vent. A healthy, safe space to go, “WTF?????”
